UVM subscribes to a volume licensing program for the most commonly used Microsoft software. Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions is an annual subscription licensing program for Microsoft software.
This agreement provides Microsoft Office 365 A3 licenses at no charge to current UVM students, faculty, and staff. This license grants access to Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Office desktop and mobile apps, as well as 1TB of OneDrive cloud storage. You can use your UVM NetID to install and activate Microsoft 365 apps on up to 5 desktops/laptops, 5 tablets, and 5 mobile devices. These devices can be UVM-owned or personal devices. The apps can be used for UVM or personal work.
Former Students, Retired or Non-Salaried Faculty and Staff, Emeriti Faculty, and Affiliated Org Employees DO NOT qualify for Office 365 A3 licensing through Microsoft EES.
After leaving UVM and losing their A3 licenses, former students retain an A1 license for approximately one year. Retired staff and faculty retain their A3 licenses for approximately 3 weeks, at which point they switch over to the A1 license, which they keep indefinitely.
The A1 license provides access to the web versions of Office apps as well as 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage. Former affiliates with this license can access these by signing in to https://www.office.com using their UVM email address.
Installation
Please use the appropriate guide below to install Office 365 on your device.
For most users, installing Office requires Duo, so make sure you set that up first. We recommend using the Duo mobile app, which you can set up using instructions found here: https://www.uvm.edu/it/kb/article/duo-multi-factor-authentication/
Windows - Install Office 365
- Navigate to https://go.uvm.edu/getoffice
- If prompted, login with your UVM NetID and password
- From the Office 365 landing page, click the Install Office apps button located in the upper right corner of the page. From the menu that appears, select Office 365 apps.
- The installer will begin downloading to your computer. When the download completes, locate and launch the installer.
- When the Office installation has has finished, click the button and search for Word.
- When prompted to sign in, enter your email address in the following NetID@uvm.edu format. You’ll be redirected to the UVM WebAuth page. Enter your UVM NetID and password to authenticate.
- That’s it! Your Office 365 license should have successfully activated all Office apps installed on your PC.
macOS - Install Office 365
- Navigate to https://go.uvm.edu/getoffice
- If prompted, login with your UVM NetID and password.
- From the Office 365 landing page, click the Install Office apps button located in the upper right corner of the page. From the menu that appears, select Office 365 apps.
- The installer will begin downloading to your computer. When the download completes, locate and launch the installer.
- When the installation of Office has finished, navigate to your Applications folder and open any Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Activation is required the first time you launch an Office 365 licensed app. To activate your Office apps, click the Get started button.
- Click the Sign In button.
- When prompted to sign in, enter your email address in the following NetID@uvm.edu format. You’ll be redirected to the UVM WebAuth page. Enter your UVM NetID and password to authenticate.
- That’s it! Your Office 365 license should have successfully activated all Office apps installed
iOS - Install Office 365
This guide will show steps for installing Microsoft Excel. These steps can be repeated to install other Office apps on your iOS devices.
- Install Microsoft Excel from the Apple AppStore.
- Once installed, open the Excel app.
- Enter your email address in the following NetID@uvm.edu format.
- You’ll be redirected to the UVM WebAuth page. Enter your UVM NetID and password to authenticate.
- That’s it! The iOS Excel app should have successfully activated. Repeat the above steps to all other Office apps you wish to install (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Android - Install Office 365
This guide will show steps for installing Microsoft Excel. These steps can be repeated to install other Office apps on your Android devices.
- Install Microsoft Excel from the GooglePlay store.
- Once installed, open the Excel app.
- You’ll be asked to Allow Excel access to photos, media, and files on your device. If editing files stored on your device, you’ll want to select ALLOW
- You’ll also be asked to allow Excel access to your contacts. Choose whichever option fits your Excel needs.
- Enter your email address in the following NetID@uvm.edu format.
- If prompted, specify that the account type you’re using is a Work or school account.
- If prompted, specify that the account type you’re using is a Work or school account.
- You’ll be redirected to the UVM WebAuth page. Enter your UVM NetID and password to authenticate.
- That’s it! The Android Excel app should have successfully activated. Repeat the above steps to all other Office apps you wish to install (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
